Yippppeeee! On July 4th, 2012 I ran my very first road race, the Peachtree Road Race (PRR). For those that my not know, the PRR is held every year in Atlanta, Ga and is a 6.2 mile run. Over 60,000 people participate and for the entire route spectators lined the streets to support and cheer on the runners. Now, for those avid runners, 6.2 miles may not be a big deal but for ME, it is huge!
I have always wanted to run. People would talk about how running served as such a stress reliever. How running would clear their mind, serve as meditation, or simply a great way to stay in shape. Well I wanted all of the above! For years I told myself that if I could just get up to 3 miles a day I would be happy. Week after week I would run but only do 1 to 1.5 miles. I would stop without pushing myself or fighting through the pain/discomfort. Sometimes I would even give up altogether and stop running for months.
